1. stamp with which - by pressing on or in a certain material, usually paper or cardboard - an imprint is made of a text or image, with or without the use of ink or foil. 2. tool used in binderies, of a maximum of about 10 cm., consisting of a flat (orvery slightly convex) piece of metal with the image to be printed in relief. This piece of metal is attached to or is part of a metal bar which is stuck into a handle. 3. print made with one of the above-mentioned stamps.
