contents: "De dorpsbibliotheek" started as a series in 1848 and was continued from 1849 to 1856 under the title "stads- en dorpsbibliotheek: mengelingen uit het gebied der godsdienst en zedekunde, der land- en volkenkennis, der romantiek en poëzij". Many books appeared in series from the second half of the 19th century. The title area of this illustration is surrounded by small scenes by the well-known lithographer C.C.A. Last. The picture at the top gives an impression of a splendid nineteenth-century (private) library.
