contents: The children on this page, Willem, Fransje and Saartje, eager readers, are ferreting about in their father's library. He makes use of the occasion to teach them proper reading habits: according to him books with `pictures' or `prints' serve little use, books which `speak briefly of your native country' on the other hand, are to be preferred and a `Fable poem' should be reflected on ten times before starting on a second. To protect the books the bookcase has curtains, something that also occurred in later times.
