contents: At the end of the 17th century the German clergyman Johan Müller, living in Leiden, developed the stereotype. Printing was no longer done in individually cast letters but from a a fixed printing plate. In 1711 a Dutch Bible appeared which had been reprinted a few times from the same plates, including this Bible of 1785.
