contents: Cross-section of a Dutch paper mill. Paper making started fairly late in the Northern Netherlands. Whereas in many countries water power was used, it was self-evident in the Netherlands that wind should be used as power as well. During the second half of the 18th century, Dutch paper was an important and qualitatively superior export article.
