contents: Blind- and gold-tooled binding of purple morocco. Both covers and spine show a neo-baroque decoration. Reverting to past styles is a typical 19th-century phenomenon. Abraham van Rossum (the binding is signed on a label on the inside) was probably the longest working and most productive binder of Amsterdam in the first half of the 19th century.
