contents: In 1769 the publisher Gerrit de Groot bought premises in the Kalverstraat, now no. 10, in Amsterdam, which became known as 'Bibliopolum'. Above the front door, the text 'Collection made here for the Generaliteits Lottery' could be found, indicating that not only books, but also lottery tickets could be obtained in the shop. Before Gerrit de Groot acquired the property, other booksellers and publishers had occupied the building and after De Groot, Johannes Müller and later his son Christiaan were to have their antiquarian bookshop there.
