contents: This illustration gives a good examples of a late 16th-century printing house in the Netherlands. It shows, for example., how copy is composed and how some more than man-sized presses are operated. Printed sheets are hanging up to dry from a few stretched lines. The print is part of `Nova reperta', a series of prints after a design by the Bruges artist Jan van der Straet (or Stradanus) which depicts all the important inventions and discoveries knownat the time.
