contents: The first Dutch-language publication on architecture. The book was printed for the author, probably to distribute it among a small number of people which can be deduced from the remark at sthe end of the text: 'Ter begheerten van goede vriende wtgegeven duer Pieter Coecke van Aelst. An. M.D.XXXIX. Men. Febr. tot Antwerpen' (For good friends, published by Pieter Coecke van Aelst). The author is also the translator of the first manual of modern civil engineering at the time, written by Sebastiano Serlio. The part on pillars appeares the same year. Because of this, Coecke's own work probably had little impact outside his own circle.
